Ari Lennox Reportedly Posts Candid Confessional of Traumatic IUD Experience Gone Wrong
Ari Lennox is keeping it real on a recent experience she had after completing a medical procedure.
In a candid confessional that she posted on social media, the "Pressure" singer explained the side effects she suffered after getting an IUD, a form of birth control that is inserted in the body that can provide protection from three to 10 years, as cited by Yale Medicine.
For the Grammy-nominated artist, this moment was a scary situation.
"I almost collapsed. I did collapse. The little insert joint, collapsation,” she explained in the clip. “First of all, I went by myself. I’m talking ’bout the s - - t women go through, y’all."
“Birth control is hard because you can do the hormonal ones; now you’re dealing with all kinds of hormonal stuff and you’re gaining weight and there’s a lot of emotions — I already have a lot of emotions.”
“The idea of like birth control on top of that? Oh my God. It’s literally giving "The Purge,” she continued while referencing the anthology horror franchise.
The singer added that she arrived at the appointment alone and wasn't aware of the potential side effects. Following the procedure, she attempted to drive herself home.
"I thought I could drive myself. I was in so much pain. I drove into a parking lot of the CVS [in Atlanta],” she said. “I couldn’t move. I couldn’t drive home. I was in so much pain. I had to lay down until I felt better.”
Finally, Lennox said she contacted a friend who came to her rescue via Uber.
It is important to consult a health professional to understand the benefits and risks of any medical procedure.
