‘House of Payne’: Calvin Picks Up The Pieces

Calvin is reeling from Laura's breakup and trying to get back on track with Jr.

The last season of “House of Payne” ended with Laura calling off the wedding with Calvin. So, this new season starts in the aftermath, one day later. Clavin has also been going through it with his son, and the episode begins with C.J. mediating a moment between Calvin and Jr. Remember, Jr. thought it was cute to storm out of the house after Calvin chastised him and put him on punishment for throwing keys at his mother. Jr. had enough sense to return to the house, but he tried it. However, C.J. is the level head, trying to get the fellas to calm down. It also doesn’t help that Jr. wants to return home to be with his mom, but Jr. gets instructed to go to his room.

Later on, C.J. invites Jr. and Calvin over to his house for a change of scenery because Jr. also loves spending time with the twins. But by this point, it has been days since Jr. spoke to his dad. Calvin tells Auntie Ella that he has a plan to get over their rough patch by spending more quality time with Jr. Calvin’s plan is to take Jr. to the movies, but everyone knows you don’t really get to talk to your movie date. To that point, it’s Auntie Ella to the rescue. She has an even better plan that involves Calvin and Jr. solving a puzzle together. Hold that thought because Miranda stops by.

Miranda is trying to be nosey because she saw a photo of Laura on social media without her ring on. From there, he finds out that Laura blocked him, and if you recall,  Laura seems to think that Calvin is still in love with Miranda or another woman. In short, she’s insecure and needs to figure that out, but Calvin wants her back and declares that he will fight for her, so we will see how that goes as the season progresses. One more positive note is that Auntie Ella’s plan got Calvin and Jr. talking again, so we end the episode with the father and son back on good terms.
