Beyoncé And Blue Ivy Steal The Show At Wearable Art Gala With ‘Lion King’ Outfits
Beyoncé is no stranger to slaying a red carpet, but at this year’s Wearable Art Gala, she outdid herself.
It’s no secret that Bey and daughter Blue Ivy are big fans of Disney’s The Lion King, especially since the superstar singer is voicing one of the main characters. To that end, they showed out for the annual gala with fits only a queen and princess could pull off.
Hosted by her mother, Tina Knowles Lawson, Beyoncé skipped the star-studded red carpet, but attended the event in a gilded jumpsuit with a lion’s face covering her chest. She posted the look on Instagram and people were stunned. “LIONESS,” singer and TV host Luana Jollca commented. “My jaw is on the floor,” another wrote.
Beyoncé also posted a video of Blue Ivy, who was wearing her own Lion King-inspired outfit, mouthing the words to “Circle of Life.”
The theme of this year’s Wearable Art Gala was "A Journey to the Pride Lands." Tina Knowles Lawson spoke with the Los Angeles Times during the event.
"Wearable art has to be over-the-top." She continued, "It can’t just be a dress with a little necklace. You’ve gotta really go there with it! If you think of the Met Ball, some people have called this Met West."
