Empire ’s Trai Byers Signs Contract With Wilhelmina Models
Trai Byers has been charming us as Andre Lyon on Fox’s hit show Empire. Now, the 32-year-old actor is set to step into modeling. Page Six reports that Byers has signed a contract with the prestigious Wilhelmina modeling agency.
The news comes right as Byers graces the cover of Saks Fifth Avenue’s men's fall catalog, where he chats about his views on fashion and personal style.
“I came to the conclusion that my relationship with style had to make me feel good about myself,” Byers said. “There had to be give and take. In feeling good about myself, I would attain the most attractive style one could have: self-love.”
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter’s Pret-a-Reporter, Byers credited his improved fashion sense to his on-screen alter ego, who can often be seen running business dressed in impeccable suits fit for a potential heir to his father’s empire.
"I'm changing!” Byers said. “I used to be a T-shirt and jeans kind of guy. I've got some sweaters now, some really thinly knit but colorful… I'm a bold guy — I like black, grey, white and blue. [Now] I'm wearing green and burgundy more. It's really looking good on me, it's great. I think it's absolutely [the influence of Empire] — I think playing Andre Lyon has made me dress a certain way. I like the way that he looks."
Saks Fifth Avenue is currently presenting a curated collection inspired by the Empire cast, which will be available in stores and online through October 7.
