Cedric The Entertainer to Star in “Hot In Cleveland” Spin-off
Eight years after his Fox sketch comedy show was yanked off the air, Cedric the Entertainer will be returning to TV land—literally.
The cable network TV Land is developing a spin-off of its hot comedy series Hot In Cleveland, and they’ve tapped Cedric as the star. The series will center on a minister (played by Cedric) who gets tangled in the adventures of the Cleveland cast. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the show’s concept will originate in Cleveland episodes, which returns this summer.
“We are going to have a lot of fun developing and exploring his role as a minister,” said Suzanne Martin, the creator, writer, showrunner and executive producer of Hot in Cleveland. The still-untitled series is contingent upon the pilot script, which will be co-written by Cedric and Martin. Martin will also serve as an executive producer of the series, along with Will & Grace star Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner of Hazy Mills Productions.
NBC recently announced that this coming fall, Cedric will host It’s Worth What?, a game show where contestants compete at discerning the price of various items.
