Angela Bassett, Awkwafina, and More to Narrate National Geographic’s Upcoming Premium Natural History Series
Academy Award-nominated actress Angela Bassett and Golden Globe-winning actress Awkwafina have been added to National Geographic's highly anticipated star-studded roster of celebrity storytellers for their upcoming blue-chip natural history show.
Bassett will be narrating and exec producing “Queens,” which will follow matriarchies and female leaders from the animal kingdom worldwide. Meanwhile, Awkwafina will be narrating “A Real Bug’s Life.” Inspired by the Pixar movie, the series focuses on nine different micro bug worlds around the globe.
Marvel star Jeremy Renner has also been added to the lineup as the narrator for “Incredible Animal Journeys.”
“The narrator’s voice is such a crucial part of what makes a Natural History series successful. Angela, Awkwafina, and Jeremy, each in their own way, bring such an enormous amount of charisma, personality, and passion to these distinctive projects,” Tom McDonald, executive vice president, Global Factual and Unscripted Content, National Geographic, said in a statement about the upcoming series.
McDonald added, “From Awkwafina’s wit to Jeremy’s warmth and Angela’s Shakespearean sense of drama, we feel both very excited and very proud to have such powerful storytellers guiding our audiences on these epic wildlife journeys.”
