Holler If You Hear Me: Black and Gay in the Church to Premiere at NYU
BET.com and journalist Clay Cane explore, first hand, the complexities of homophobia in the Black church with the enlightening documentary Holler If You Hear Me: Black and Gay in the Church. The groundbreaking film will premiere at NYU on November 3.
Both created and produced by Cane, the doc follows Black LGBT-identifying individuals who are torn between their faith and sexuality. While this conflict remains the core of the film remains, Holler also deeply touches on how race and gender influence one's sense of identity.
Filmed in Atlanta, where the Black LGBT community and church culture intersect like nowhere else in the world, Holler If You Hear Me: Black and Gay in the Church tackles the individual journeys of those who struggle between the two worlds, ultimately proving one thing: we all deserve to be heard and loved.
To see it all unfold, catch the premiere at New York University on November 3. Doors open at 6:45 pm. Tickets can be purchased here.
