Following the release of "Project 2025," an initiative underwritten by the Heritage Foundation in preparation for a second Donald Trump presidency, the Biden administration has moved swiftly to combat the alleged misinformation purported by Republicans.

In a press release obtained by BET.com, the Biden administration is hitting back against Trump by pointing out his record of housing discrimination against African Americans and Latino Americans as well as the impact of Project 2025 on housing throughout the country.

The Biden team claims that the agenda of Project 2025 is centered on “taking America back decades” and would prevent Black and Brown American residents from being able “to purchase homes and raise families where they choose.”

The Biden administration goes on to say that Project 2025 will end the Fair Housing Act, revoke fair housing rules to prevent discrimination, reverse fair housing and tenant protections enacted by the President, and privatize Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, which would "drive up mortgage costs for homebuyers,” and much more.

Jasmine Harris, Black Media Director for the Biden-Harris campaign,  shared a statement with BET.com about the checkered track record of the former president and why his policies would be detrimental to communities of color.

“Donald Trump has spent his life discriminating against Black and brown Americans and driving up housing and rental costs. His extreme Project 2025 agenda would not only make it harder for families to purchase a home–it would also allow discrimination against millions of Black and brown Americans,” Harris said.

“President Biden and Vice-President Harris have worked to lay out an agenda that lowers housing costs, assists first-time homebuyers to achieve the dream of owning a home, fights against discrimination, builds more homes, and lowers the damn rent,” her statement continued.

“Americans deserve a President who fights for them, not against them. That’s Joe Biden.”
