'The Oval': Hunter’s Back on His Feet, and the Drama Just Got Real

Richard’s cover-up takes shape, Lilly plots her next move, and Hunter shocks Victoria and Eli with a power play they never saw coming.

"The Oval" picks up from the chaos Nancy and Richard created—mainly Richard, since last week, he stabbed his father. It doesn’t help that his father had been sleeping with Nancy behind his back for years and even had a son with her while Richard was in the military. You know the deal, so it's easy to see how someone in that situation might snap. However, actions have consequences. In the aftermath, Nancy reveals that Richard’s father has died and instructs Dale to call the police.

Before the police arrive, Nancy calls Sam to tell him what happened. Sam warns her not to say anything to the authorities and says he’ll come over to help. However, Priscilla burns all of Sam’s clothes, delaying him. Speaking of Priscilla, she gets to Richard and Nancy’s place first, advises them both to stay silent, and starts piecing together their mess. When Sam finally arrives—wearing an apron since it’s the only thing he could find—Nancy makes sure to get him some pants.

Sam pulls Richard aside and offers to help cover for him. He suggests they make it look like Richard’s father was mugged and stabbed. It’s a risky move, but Richard agrees to go along with the lie.

Meanwhile, Donald finally returns home to Lilly, who has been trapped. He informs her that she’s coming with him to the White House to resume her role as his beard for a press conference. She agrees to go, but she’s probably up to something. Only time will tell.

Hunter, as we know, can stand again, and he’s ready to go off. He orders his agents to suit up and prepare for war. He enlists Jason to lead them through the White House tunnels so they can move undetected.

Later, we find Victoria and Eli casually laughing over breakfast, thinking everything is sweet. But then, Hunter, Jason, and their agents sneak in to let them know the game just changed. Victoria and Eli are stunned to see Hunter back on his feet, which delights him. The episode ends with agents pointing red laser dots at Eli and Victoria—so we’ll see how things unfold next week.
