R. Kelly, still recovering from emergency throat surgery he underwent late last month, took some time out to offer thanks and reassurance to fans in a video diary.
The R&B crooner appears in the brief clip, recorded shortly after he was released from the hospital, with his mouth obscured by a surgical mask. Doctor's removed an abscess from Kelly's throat July 20 after he complained of severe throat pain.
“I want to say thanks to all the prayer warriors out there for supporting me, praying for me. The doctor said the surgery went well. I know it may not look like it, but it did," he said, still coughing and with a scratchy voice. "I want ya’ll to continue to pray for me, be strong out there. I will be back. I know it’s a lot of negativity out there, please don’t believe the hype. God is good all the time.”
Kells said he was looking forward to getting back to work on a new album.
“As soon as I get a chance I’m going back in the studio to work on my next album,” he promised.
