Chicago Gun Violence: 3 Dead, 20 Injured This Past Weekend
Three people were killed and 20 were injured in gun violence this past weekend in Chicago. The youngest of the victims was an 18-year-old male.
Tyree Harris was shot in the head Friday night in the Marquette Park neighborhood while standing on a sidewalk, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Later that evening, Anferne Durant, 19, was struck by bullets in his foot, leg and side. He was taken to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Police believe the incident could have been a drive-by shooting.
Arturo Olivera's life was taken on Saturday at 2 a.m., according to the Chicago Tribune. He was found by authorities in the driver's seat of a vehicle. The 24-year-old was struck by multiple bullets. He died before he could be transported to a medical facility.
So far in 2015, 21 people have been killed by gunshot wounds in Chicago, according to Red Eye Chicago homicide tracker.
