Jason Pierre-Paul Looks Like He's Missing Tip of Right Thumb in Workout Video

Pro Bowl defensive end thinks hand has healed enough to play.

Jason Pierre-Paul is ready for some football.

After being kept on the sidelines Week 1, the New York Giants' star defensive end took to his Instagram account Tuesday and posted a workout video to let coach Tom Coughlin and his staff know that he has gotten over his hand injury—caused by Fourth of July fireworks—and is ready to play.

The Pro Bowl defensive end is trying to prove to his coach that his hand injury won't affect his play on the field. Before the Giants examined his hand last week, Pierre-Paul had a repair procedure performed on his right middle finger, according to ESPN. He lost one of his index fingers and is missing the tip of his thumb due to a fireworks' accident two months ago.

Although Pierre-Paul is confident that he will play again this season, the Giants may not play him for another five or six weeks, until his hand is further healed to their satisfaction. If it's not, ESPN is reporting that they may even rescind the $14.81 franchise tender they offered him this offseason.

The Giants (0-1) host the Atlanta Falcons (1-0) in Week 2 action on Sunday.
