Joe Budden Turns Himself in to NYPD
The NYPD can call off the search for Joe Budden, the rapper/reality star turned himself in Wednesday (Aug. 27) morning, and has since been released. Budden was charged with third-degree robbery and fourth-degree grand larceny.
He is accused of beating an ex-girlfriend and stealing her cellphone, which he denies. After live tweeting from jail this morning, Budden talked about the legal ruckus with NBC New York. "It's been a frenzy, I was surprised at all of it to be honest. The media circus, the witch hunt, the man hunt," he said from his New Jersey home.
Last Saturday, the NYPD tweeted his photo, prompting a series of antagonizing responses from Budden. "That was me being my own worst enemy," admitted the Slaughterhouse member. "But again, there is no law against tweeting."
Budden was never hiding from police. He jokingly tweeted his whereabouts over the weekend, and when NBC New York caught up with the 33-year-old, he was preparing to walk his dogs. "Well you guys found me rather easily," he said. "I'm wearing pink, who runs wearing pink?"
All jokes aside, Budden maintains that he's been "fully cooperative" with authorities and that he owns the stolen cellphone. The alleged victim claims he took the device, pulled her out of a restaurant, bashed her head into a dashboard, and choked her at his home in New Jersey.
