Kandi Burruss Says Her Cousin Is ‘Healing’, After Being Shot At Her Atlanta Restaurant
Kandi Burruss says that her cousin Melvin Jones is on the road to recovery after he was shot at one of her restaurants in Atlanta that she owns with her husband, Todd Tucker.
In case you missed it, Jones was involved in an altercation with a co-worker at Blaze Steak & Seafood; investigators allege that Jones' colleague shot him in the arm.
Burruss responded to the situation that occurred in early September on the Ooh Ladies First Panel and shared that her cousin is “healing.”
"He's doing fine. He's getting through it," said Burruss. "So since he's okay, I'm okay. If he wouldn't have been okay, I wouldn't have been okay, you know what I mean?"
"Obviously, he's uncomfortable. But [the bullet] didn't hit anything that won't heal," she continued. "He's at home, he's healing. He's fine. I mean, he's not fine but he's [okay]."
Jones is the chef at Blaze Steak & Seafood and the culinary manager at Old Lady Gang, another of Burruss' eateries.
Blaze Steak & Seafood opened in 2020. The name is inspired by the name of Burruss and Tucker's 2-year-old daughter, Blaze.
It isn't clear what led to the disagreement, and the alleged assailant's name, who police say left the scene following the incident, has not been released.
