Woman Gets Dumped and You Won't Believe What She Did Next
Love burns, in more ways than one.
A New Jersey woman, Lakishette Williams, says that she was burning love letters from her ex- boyfriend when she accidentally set her entire apartment on fire. Police pulled her from her home to discover that she had started fires in two different rooms.
Williams pleaded her case at a bail reconsideration on Friday after being charged with aggravated arson. Prosecutors said that there was evidence that showed one fire had been started on the stove top, and one in the living room. Burned paper was discovered, as well as a can of flammable aerosol.
Williams's attorney, Caroline Turner, argued that the she was not trying to light her house on fire, but that she was just trying to destroy the evidence of her failed relationship.
"She was devastated," Turner said, explaining that after Williams discovered that her boyfriend was not only gay, but was also cheating on her, she simply wanted to rid herself of reminders of their past romance.
The judge later reduced Williams's bail to $35,000, and the case may be headed to a grand jury later this month. There's a lesson in all this, ladies: try Haagen-Daaz first.
