We haven't seen the legendary Denzel Washington since he directed and starred in last year's Fences. But the actor is coming back hard in the highly anticipated Roman J. Israel, Esq.

The thriller follows Denzel, who plays a ballsy lawyer, in the corrupt Los Angeles criminal justice system. He has fought for social justice his whole career, but his life is changed through a series of crazy events. Plus, he rocks a serious afro! 

Denzel exclusively told BET.com about the character, "It works from the inside out. I don't work from the outside in. I start on the inside and it will lead me to the outside. So, what you see is a result of the internal work that I did. The universal stems from the specific. I get specific with the character, find it, and it leads me where I want to go."
The film also includes Carmen Ejogo and Colin Farrell.
