TV Casting News: Whoopi Goldberg and Norm Lewis Get Small Screen Roles
Whoopi Goldberg continues her moonlighting gigs away from The View’s couch this fall TV season. The Oscar winner will return to the popular FOX musical Glee for its fourth season, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Goldberg will reprise the role of New York Academy of Dramatic Arts dean Carmen Tibideaux, who was featured in a pivotal multi-episode arc in season three. Although she will be billed as a special guest star, the producers plan to bring back Goldberg’s character as often as needed this new season, so expect to see lots of her.
Also, Huffington Post is reporting that Porgy and Bess’ Norm Lewis will be joining the cast of ABC’s Scandal in a recurring role.
Lewis is tapped for what has been described as an “incredible arc” portraying the ex-boyfriend of Olivia Pope, played by series star Kerry Washington. Even Scandal creator Shonda Rhimes hinted of romantic fireworks for Washington’s character in season two. Rhimes says, “There’s a prospect of one. I don’t know that we’re going to get to it early in the second season, but there’s definitely a prospect of one.” Lewis is slated to appear in the third episode of the hit drama's upcoming second season.
Tune in to find out just how much love hits the fan when Scandal premieres on ABC September 27.
