Yung Berg Launches New Production Company
Yung Berg's music became popular with the 2007 hit, "Sexy Lady" but his name has stayed in the media after a string of incidents including a deragatory statement about dark skinned women, a possible pistol whipping episode and several sets of beef with other artists including Ne-yo.
In an attempt to put his "yung" past behind him, Berg used his 25th birthday, September 9, as the launch date for his new production company, YFM Productions. In an exclusive interview with AllHiphHop.com, Berg shared that YFM stands for Young Fly Movement and he's already signed two new artists:
"God is so good, he blessed me with my new artist Mia Rey. I've known her since the first week I moved to Miami, but we didn't start working until a month ago. We've finished the YFM comp and she's the best female voice I've ever worked with! My other artist is a partnership with my bizness partner Coop, his name is Driicky Graham! I started working with Driicky after a small promo tour where he opened up for me and I got to see the girls embrace him. I felt that with my music. we could take it to another level and that's what's currently going on!"
Over the past year Berg has been increasing his behind the scenes activities, producing tracks for Lil' Wayne, Diddy Dirty Money and taking a big part in Gossip Girl Leighton Meester's pop venture. "I felt like with all the adversity placed in front of me, whether it was a result of my behavior or me being taken advantage of, I still wanted to go where I had been musically, but I wanted to take it to the next level."
His newest single, "Shawty Can Get It" features both of his new artists and has the light, digital poppy sound that Berg became famous with. Hopefully this new responsibilty will keep the budding businessman out of trouble.
