Toni Braxton Shares Biggest Difficulties of Battle with Lupus
Living with lupus is far from easy. The autoimmune disease can slowly wreak havoc on your organs and when symptoms flare up due to stress and other factors, it can take an insurmountable amount of effort to go about your daily activities. In 2010, Toni Braxton announced that she was diagnosed with the disease and has been pretty open about struggles with her health. In a recent interview with HuffPost Live, the singer talked about the most difficult parts of living with lupus and how she manages to cope through the tough days.
"Some days I can't balance it all. I just have to lay in bed," she said. "Pretty much when you have lupus you feel like you have the flu every day. But some days you get through it. But for me, if I'm not feeling well, I tend to tell my kids, 'Oh mommy's just going to relax in bed today.’ I kind of take it easy."
The singer said she’s never had to cancel a show due to her illness and instead, powers through her performances even when her body is ailing.
"That's the toughest part, when I have to perform. So often, when it's like that, it's a lot of, 'You sing!' to the audience, you know. They kind of help me out a little bit without realizing it," she said.
