Hip Hop Awards 2024: 5 Gems Crafted by Hit-Boy

The Grammy winner is up for 'Producer of the Year.'

The BET “Hip Hop Awards 2024” are set to shine a spotlight on the biggest names in the game, but some of the most captivating tracks often fly under the radar. As the stage heats up on Tuesday, Oct 15 at 8 PM ET, hosted by none other than Fat Joe, we're taking a moment to celebrate the masterful, behind-the-scenes work of Hit-Boy.

Known for crafting chart-topping hits, he’s also responsible for a treasure trove of hidden gems that deserve their time in the spotlight. Here are five lesser-known tracks that highlight Hit-Boy's genius.

  • Lil Wayne - “Drop the World” feat. Eminem

While Lil Wayne and Eminem’s explosive collaboration on Rebirth is widely remembered, few people know that Hit-Boy co-produced this track. The ominous beat that serves as the backdrop to both artists' intense verses was one of Hit-Boy’s early productions, showcasing his talent for blending dark melodies with booming drums.

  • Joey Bada$$ - “Belly of the Beast”

Hit-Boy brought a gritty, raw energy to Joey Bada$$’s  “Belly of the Beast” from the emcee’s debut studio album B4.Da.$$. The haunting production, filled with eerie vocal samples and heavy drums, perfectly complements Joey’s nostalgic, boom-bap flow.

  • "1Train" – A$AP Rocky feat. Kendrick Lamar, Joey Bada$$, Yelawolf, Danny Brown, Action Bronson, & Big K.R.I.T.

This massive posse cut from A$AP Rocky’s Long.Live.A$AP features an eclectic mix of rappers, and Hit-Boy’s hard-hitting, grimy production ties it all together. The minimalist beat lets the lyricism shine.

  • Rihanna - “Pose”

Hit-Boy lent his signature touch to Rihanna’s track “Woo” from her highly anticipated album Anti. With its hypnotic rhythm and smooth production, Hit-Boy creates an ethereal backdrop that perfectly complements the song's sensual lyrics.

  • Mariah Carey - “Thirsty”

One of Hit-Boy’s lesser-known collaborations in the pop world, “Thirsty," sees him bringing a club-ready bounce to Mariah Carey’s Me. I Am Mariah…The Elusive Chanteuse, blending R&B and hip-hop elements seamlessly.

"BET Hip Hop Awards" 2024 will premiere on Tuesday, October 15, at 8 PM ET/PT on BET.
