'House of Payne': Jr’s Dance Dilemma Sparks Tension Between Laura and Miranda
The latest episode of House of Payne kicks off with Jr getting ready for a mother-son dance at school. Calvin surprises him with a new outfit, but just as Jr tries it on, Calvin gets a text—Jr’s mom can’t make it to the dance due to an emergency. This leads to both Laura and Miranda volunteering to step in as his stand-in mom, setting the stage for inevitable tension.
Laura and Miranda insist there won’t be any hard feelings, but Jr ultimately chooses Miranda. While Laura pretends everything’s fine, it’s clear she’s hurt. Later, she confides in Calvin that she’s been trying hard to build a connection with Jr, but nothing seems to be working.
Meanwhile, Malik and Lisa have a babysitting emergency and swing by Uncle Curtis and Aunt Ella’s for help. Curtis, distracted by a football game, barely listens before agreeing to watch the baby. Of course, he soon learns Ella is busy and can’t stay to help. He’s left to rely on Floyd, who’s fast asleep in the armchair.
Thankfully, Calvin and Floyd manage to figure things out in the end.
As for Jr, Calvin asks him why he chose Miranda over Laura, and Jr drops a bombshell: he thinks Miranda is better and suggests Calvin should get back with her.
Calvin quickly shuts down that idea, but it’s clear Laura’s struggle to connect with Jr is weighing on him. In a surprising turn, Miranda comes to the rescue. When she arrives to pick up Jr for the dance, she starts showing off goofy dance moves, embarrassing him enough to change his mind—he decides to go with Laura after all. As they leave, Miranda tells Calvin she orchestrated the switch, putting her pride aside because Laura lives with them and deserves to bond with Jr.
In the end, it seems like everyone’s on the right path.
