Maya Rudolph Returning As Kamala Harris For ‘SNL’ Season 50
Maya Rudolph is set to reprise her Emmy-winning role as Kamala Harris on “Saturday Night Live” this fall when the sketch comedy covers the 2024 presidential campaign, according to Deadline.
The comedian portrayed the vice president in 2019 when she was running in the 2020 presidential election. After that appearance, Harris took to her X (formally known as Twitter) account to show appreciation with a GIF of Rudolph saying, “No one is above the law!”
“That girl being played by @MayaRudolph on @nbcsnl? That girl was me,” she captioned the post. Rudolph responded with, “YES SHE WAS SENATOR HARRIS!!!”
Harris’ husband, Doug Emhoff, had also chimed in. “Dear @MayaRudolph: @KamalaHarris hubby is still LMFAO this morning. We will make sure to get the nomination to keep you coming back to @nbcsnl!”
After the 2020 election, the Florida native regained her role as Harris a few more times, including her March 2021 hosting stint, which earned her another Emmy for Guest Actress In a Comedy Series.
Rudolph is currently nominated for four Emmys, including a Lead Actress In a Comedy Series for “Loot” and Guest Actress In a Comedy Series for her latest gig as “SNL” host this past season.
