'House of Payne': Jasmine’s Major Meltdown and Aunt Ella’s Sticky Situation

This week on House of Payne, Jasmine’s college indecisiveness hits a nerve with CJ and Janine, while Aunt Ella forgets an important date with Laura—cue the cinnamon roll drama and some much-needed heart-to-hearts.

This week's episode of "House of Payne" kicks off with Malik helping Jasmine film a project for her broadcast journalism class. Yes, she’s changed her major—again. And right on cue, she tells Malik not to tell their dad… just as CJ walks in and hears the tail end of that sentence. Perfect timing. Malik, clearly not built for secret-keeping, immediately spills the beans.

CJ and Janine are fed up. Jasmine’s been bouncing between majors like it’s a sport—architecture, agriculture, sociology—and now journalism. The issue? CJ and Janine aren’t sitting on endless tuition money. As CJ puts it, they’re not financing her journey through Every Major USA.

Meanwhile, over at the senior Paynes’ house, Laura pops in for a quick visit with Aunt Ella—only to find her deep in the kitchen, showing Miranda how to make her signature cinnamon rolls. The problem? Ella was supposed to be at Laura’s wedding chef tasting that day. Apparently, Aunt Ella forgot and tells Laura she can reschedule—but anyone who’s planned a wedding knows tastings don’t really work like that. Laura’s feelings are bruised, and she dips.

Laura vents to Calvin, who tries to calm the situation by suggesting that maybe Ella just forgot. Wrong move—Laura gets even more upset, and Calvin wisely decides to stay out of it.

Back in Jasmine’s world, her professor drops by for a check-in—just in time to catch Jasmine on the brink of quitting journalism too. But instead of indulging her indecisiveness, the professor gives her a much-needed reality check: it’s okay to change your path, even after you’ve finished school. She shares her own story of career pivots, and Jasmine finally seems to get it. Still, somebody better remind her that college tuition isn’t Monopoly money.

Finally, the episode wraps with Ella, Curtis, and Miranda celebrating a cinnamon roll victory—they took first place at Christian’s school bake-off. Just as the mood is sweet and light, Calvin walks in and tells Ella that Laura’s mad. Ella’s over it, insisting she had prior plans before Laura’s invite. Looks like some wires got crossed—and that convo between Ella and Laura? Definitely a "to be continued."
