Audi Responds to Eminem Lawsuit

The car maker denies any wrongdoing in the pending copyright infringement case.

Last week, the German auto manufacturer Audi found itself in a bit of hot water after an advertisement for the company's new A6 used Eminem's song "Lose Yourself," allegedly without permission. The ad, which aired only in Europe, appeared to be directly influenced by Eminem's popular Superbowl spot for Chrysler that used the same song.
Now Audi has released a statement distancing itself from the controversy by claiming, somewhat cryptically, that the ad in question isn't actually an ad at all.
"The video referred to is not an advertisement," a representative for Audi said in a statement according to Allhiphop.com. "Also, this does not involve Audi of America. The video was not shown here in the U.S."
Audi's claims will no doubt figure into the company's pending legal defense at the regional court in Hamburg, Germany, where Eminem's publishing company, Eight Mile Style, is pursuing its copyright infringement lawsuit. Audi has recently been forced to cease airing the "non-advertisement."
