Kendrick Lamar Releasing New Single Next Week
The first single off Kendrick Lamar’s upcoming album drops next Tuesday (Sept. 23) and will be titled “I,” according to HipHop-n-More. Lamar tweeted the single's cover art this afternoon.
Even though HHNM verified the title as "I" versus "I [Love Myself]," the song info has actually been floating around Twitter for about a week now, although seemingly unnoticed. WatchLoud, a video production company, tweeted last weekend, “Kendrick Lamar is dropping a new single soon. ‘I Love Myself’ That album’s on the way.”
Another tweet popped up yesterday (Sept. 16) from the account of a social media consultant and web developer, reading, “Big singles coming out of Interscope in the next few weeks, as their promo site just revealed: Fergie Monday, Kendrick Tuesday, Gwen [Stefani] 10/6.”
The Grammy-nominated MC has been mostly quiet about the details surrounding the album as a whole, although he recently told Rolling Stone that there won’t be many features. “I have so much to say it’s almost selfish of me,” he noted.
Lamar's major label debut, good kid m.a.a.d. city, was released in October 2012 and has sold more than 1.2 million copies.
