The Story of Cash Money Is Being Told With a New Documentary
This week, music mogul Birdman penned what was vaguely alluded to as quite the shiny deal with Apple Music.
Today (August 19), details behind the curious boss move have been announced, confirming that the music-streaming service will exclusively play host to a new documentary detailing the legacy and story of Cash Money Records.
The documentary, aptly titled The Cash Money Story: Before Anythang, glimpses into the early days of the record label and features interviews from family members, friends and people close to the empire's two founders, Bryan “Birdman” Williams and Ronald “Slim” Williams. The two brothers also share executive producing credits, while Baby himself will take charge and narrate the feature.
Considering the seemingly never-ending beef between Birdman and Cash Money’s biggest player, Lil Wayne, one can’t help but wonder how the rapper will be portrayed in the record label’s come-up story. Safe to say Weezy probably isn’t going to cosign this.
The documentary is slated for a fall release but an exact date has yet to be announced.
