Will Smith Tests Positive For COVID, Greets 'Emancipation' Premiere Audience Via Zoom
Will Smith’s plan to surprise an audience at the premiere of his new film Emancipation went left after he tested positive for COVID right before his appearance.
In a video posted to Instagram, the 54-year-old actor hilariously acted extra as he took the test that included swabbing the inside of his nose. Smith was asymptomatic as he prepared to test for the virus. The Independence Day star’s results came back positive an hour later.
“Throwback to when I went viral,” he captioned the post.“I was getting ready to surprise an audience who had just seen Emancipation.”
Smith, not wanting to disappoint fans, wound up surprising them via Zoom.
“I tested positive,” he explained, “I made them do it again and again, so I'm definitely positive.”
