This Day in Black History: Nov. 18, 2000
Destiny’s Child continued their meteoric ascent with a praise-worthy music-industry milestone. Starting on Nov. 18, 2000, the trio topped the Billboard’s Hot 100 list for 11 straight weeks with their empowering single "Independent Woman."
Described as the best incarnation ever of Destiny’s Child, Beyoncé Knowles, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams sang their way into the hearts of independent women worldwide.
Their hit song went on to become the theme song for the “McG” directed Hollywood movie production of Charlie’s Angels. Now that’s girl power!
