With the hard part of the basketball negotiations behind the league, players are switching teams and calling the shots.

Chauncey Billups, who was signed to the New York Knicks for a $14.2 million option for the 2011-2012 season, is one such baller who wants to make his own career decisions regarding which jersey he wears. This is after he was waived by the Knicks for free agent Tyson Chandler.

Obviously angry about the way he’s being treated, Billups tells Yahoo! Sports, “I’m tired of being viewed as the good guy. After a while, you just kind of get taken advantage of in these situations ... This is about me, and teams should know that right now.”

In essence, the 35-year-old guard is saying he doesn’t want to get chosen, he wants to do the choosing. He wants his freedom in a way he’s said he’s never had before. For any team thinking Billups will be okay with the old way of doing business, he warns them against doing so, or he may quit the game.

“There’s not another guy in history who keeps dealing with this, getting thrown into these things to make the money right. I really believe it’s because people take my kindness and professionalism for weakness. They think I’ll be OK with this. I won’t be OK with this. I’ve saved my money. I may just retire if I don’t get my freedom here.”
