Eve Batiste (Jurnee Smollett) is a quizzical young girl who happens upon her father's flirtatious ways one day. The traumatic experience causes a chain reaction which threatens the stability of the entire Batiste family.
Released in 1997 to much critical acclaim, Eve's Bayou has continued to stand out as a high mark in independent Black cinema to this day. Mixing elements of magic realism into a traditional drama, director Kasi Lemmons weaves together a far-from-perfect family portrait that had yet to be achieved by any filmmaker at that time. With stand-out performances by the likes of Samuel L. Jackson, Lynn Whitfield, Meagan Good and Debbi Morgan, Eve's Bayou will stir your soul and leave you enchanted.
Tune in Sunday, October 2 at 8:30P/7:30C for the premiere of Eve's Bayou! Encore on October 3 at 1P/12C.
