Kylie Jenner's New Blushes Have Kringeworthy Names
The KarJenners have built an empire on oversharing, but at what point does it become too much? For some, Kylie Cosmetics is towing that line.
Last week, Kylie Cosmetics announced it would soon be releasing blushes. The unremarkable news was overshadowed by the mere names of the new products. The devil is really in the details, folks.
With names such as "Barely Legal," "Virginity," "X Rated" and "Hot and Bothered," it appeared as though Jenner was yet again leverageing a scandal as a source of income. Her cosmetic company started as lipkits, cashing in on the attention around her injection-enhanced face.
The KarJenners are masters of turning straw into gold. Keeping Up catapulted into success just as the news of Kim's sex tape (released without her consent) was making the rounds. And why we're extremely here for a woman owning and gaining autonomy over a situation in which she has been clearly wronged, something about these blushes feels a little...off.
Kylie and Tyga confirmed their relationship after her 18th birthday, but were thought to be together prior to the declaration. With a sizeable amount of Kylie's fanbase being young girls, the blushes leave us with an icky feeling (probably because the cheekiness is a bit too close to home). It should also be noted that "Orgasm" has been an iconic Nars shade for decades. So whether she's ripping off Nars or monetizing her underage relationship, it's kind of a lose-lose.
At least "Hopeless Romantic" sounds naive and optimistic?
