SZA Honored At Songwriters Hall Of Fame Induction Ceremony
Last night (June 13), SZA was honored with the Hal David Starlight Award at the Songwriters Hall of Fame 2024 Induction and Awards Gala. The event took place at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City.
"I'm just beyond all of my wildest dreams," the Grammy Award-winning singer said during her acceptance speech, according to PEOPLE. "I'm just so grateful. Thank you for seeing me."
She added, "I swear, I'll be like, 'Oh I wrote this and I wrote that. And [people would] be like, 'OK,' especially if you're a woman, especially if you're a Black woman. So to win this... It just means the world."
The Hal David Starlight Award was given to SZA for the impact her original songwriting made in the music industry. She joined the list of past honorees, including Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, and Post Malone.
SZA also performed an acoustic version of her 2022 hit single "Snooze" at the ceremony.
