Oprah Announces Final Air Date of Her Talk Show

After 25 years, "The Oprah Winfrey Show" will end on May 25.

After hosting "The Oprah Winfrey Show" for more than two decades, the Queen of Talk will air her final episode May 25, Chicago-based Harpo Productions confirmed Friday. Winfrey announced on November 2009 that the show will be drawing to an end, much to the dismay of her viewers and fans. The top-rated show, known for its penchant to surprise audience members with outrageous giveaways, is aired in 145 countries around the world.

"I love this show," she said. "This show has been my life. And I know when it's time to say good-bye. Twenty-five years feels right in my bones and feels right in my spirit."

Lately, the show has been airing re-runs, but Winfrey tweeted that she was "hard at work planning the final shows" and that new episodes will begin airing April 7. No word yet on who the final guest will be. Afterwards, Winfrey plans to devote her energy toward her new cable network, OWN (Oprah Winfrey Network), which launched this January.
