Method Man Defends Role on Chozen

MC Twitter handles critics of new animated show about a gay white rapper.

Method Man had to bring the pain to some Internet thugs who were clowning his role on the new animated series, Chozen. The show, which was picked up recently to air on FX, focuses on the title character, a "gay white rapper fresh out of prison ... on a quest for redemption and to claim his rightful position as the world's top rap artist."

Says Meth, via Twitter, according to HipHopDX, "It's a f---in cartoon. These same hatin a-- n-----s cheer for Omar from the wire tho."

Method Man, of the venerable Wu-Tang Clan, not only plays a role on Chozen, created by the creators of HBO's Eastbound & Down, but also had a role on HBO's The Wire, which featured the gay gangsta character Omar he referenced in his tweet.

"I don't care about any1's opinion of a show they hvnt even seen yet," he continued. He also mentioned that he didn't do it for the money, he did it as a "favor" and was paid an honorary fee of $1,500-2,000 per episode after it was picked up. "So f--k off wit all that it hurts hip-hop bs only thing hurtin hip hop is u self loathing over opinionated wannabe thug a-- n----s..smh."

The show premieres Monday (Jan. 13) with SNL's Bobby Moynihan as Chozen. He'll be spitting lyrics that "take aim at the stereotypes of machismo and misogyny that [are] synonymous with rap music."

Meanwhile, Meth has some lyrics coming too (not as his Chozen character Phantasm, though) via his The Meth Lab mixtape, slated for release in March.
