Donald Glover Could Be The New Face Of An Iconic Childhood Character

This would be groundbreaking.

Here's something we never knew we needed, until now.

Donald Glover, who is known for his various stints on the big and small screen ranging from the likes of Community to Atlanta, is reportedly in talks to star as a classic and timeless character that was first introduced to the world back in 1971.

According to Collider, Glover is reportedly on the shortlist to play Willy Wonka in the new movie Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, commissioned by Warner Bros.

Wonka, known mostly as an innately charismatic confectionery extraordinaire, was initially introduced to the world in the Roald Dahl novel Charlie & The Chocolate Factory. Since then, he has been reincarnated several times on the big screen, with the most notable portrayals being Gene Wilder in 1971 and Johnny Depp in 2005.

The site reports that he is one of the "few actors" to appear on the short list for the film. The others being considered are Justice League star Ezra Miller and La La Land actor Ryan Gosling.

The new film will reportedly be helmed by Paddington director Paul King and is said to be a prequel that will explore the Willy Wonka's origin story.

So, what do you think? Is Donald Glover the guy for the job?
