Trump Rushed Off Rally Stage After Shots Fired
Former President Donald Trump was rushed offstage by the Secret Service after shots were fired at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, today.
Trump was taken to a nearby hospital after the incident, and his campaign says he's safe and unharmed.
"Secret Service has implemented protective measures and the former President is safe," Secret Service spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi said in a statement following the shooting. "This is now an active Secret Service investigation and further information will be released when available."
According to CBS News, law enforcement has confirmed that the suspect is no longer a threat and is either dead or in custody. No other details about the shooter have been released.
Rep. Mike Kelley of Pennsylvania, who was backstage at the rally, told CBS News, "I believe a lady who was next to me was hit, other people were hit."
