NeNe Leakes Posts Petition For A Boycott Of Bravo
The thirteenth season of Real Housewives of Atlanta is currently airing on Bravo without original cast member NeNe Leakes. The 53-year-old reality star is now supporting a boycott of the network.
On Dec. 22, Leakes posted a petition to ban Bravo, where she worked for over a decade. The Change.org petition accused the network of “unfair and biased treatment they have displayed towards their African American talent.”
The petition also heavily references Leakes, “NeNe has given so much to this network only to be devalued when it comes to other opportunities within the network in comparison to non Black talent.”
The petition, which has over 11,000 signatures, also stated, “This action by Bravo network is affirmation of systemic racism and inequality that the African American community faces and struggles with currently in society.”
On September 17, in a video posted to NeNe’s YouTube channel, the 52-year-old said that after "emotional negotiations" she could not reach a deal with Bravo.
By September 29, Leakes was calling out Executive Producer Andy Cohen, tweeting, “No one knew you until YOU knew me. Remember I’m ICON. Don’t forget.”
This is not the first time Leakes has left the series. NeNe left the reality show briefly for season 9 and returned by season 10.
