Amy Winehouse Told to Sober Up or Face Death
Amy Winehouse reportedly got a notice from doctors about her longtime battle with drugs and alcohol: sober up or die. The 27-year-old singer recently checked into London’s Priory clinic and, according to a source, was told it’s time to finally overcome her struggles with addiction. The source was quoted saying, “It's the last chance saloon for Amy. Doctors have come down hard on her because of the severity of her situation. It's a harsh reality, but she had to hear it."
Winehouse was said to have received the warning in front of both her father and boyfriend. The source explained to The Sun, "They are worried about her. Mitch has been down this road before during Amy's drug addiction. But she is there of her own accord this time and wants to sort herself out."
Winehouse was spotted guzzling a small bottle of vodka before entering the facility. An onlooker described Amy’s behavior: "She seemed out of it. She was stumbling about, slurring her words. I was shocked to see her buy vodka so early in the day, and even more shocked to see her knock it straight back."
As Amy shoots for sobriety, her label is waiting to release her long-delayed third album. NME quoted a label insider saying, “She has finally finished the album, and it's ready to go. They [Island Records] were just about to finalize a release date and then this happened. She is back in rehab for the foreseeable future so it is just a question of waiting and seeing now. But there is no way they can give a specific release date until they know when she is likely to be out."
