See How This Beauty Blogger Turned Her Passion Into a Product

And why Africa Miranda's Facial Elixir is our new steez.

Lifestyle guru and our favorite curly girl inspo Africa Miranda is building her brand past beauty blogging with her latest business venture. She recently launched Beauty by Africa Miranda, her own brand dedicated to marrying her two loves: all things beauty and travel. She’s kicked things off with a facial elixir inspired by the stunning city of Rio de Janeiro that is soon to become a must-have in every brown girl’s makeup arsenal.

As an ambassador for Creme of Nature and other hair-related gigs, you’d think branching out into the hair space would be the next logical step for the aspiring beautypreneur, but like a true business woman her moves are smart and calculated.

“I didn’t want to do hair because even though it felt very obvious I still work a lot with hair brands. And I was like, I don’t want to cut off my coins [laughs],” she tells BET.com.

“I just feel like the market has a lot of really great brands. Like, there wasn’t anything new that I could add, like in terms of the deep conditioner, or a twist-out crème or a gel. It would just be me throwing something else out there… So I didn’t feel like it was necessary, but I’ve said that the thing that people ask me about most after my hair, is skin and beauty. And I said, 'OK, well how can I still wrap that into the traveling that I love and these other things?' And for me that’s where Beauty by Africa Miranda (BBAM) was born. It’s an ever-evolving travel story, so the places that I’ve been and the places that I go inspire the products.”

Beauty by Africa Miranda’s debut facial elixir is like taking that vacation “glow” with you in a bottle. Africa let us sample the stuff that feels like liquid gold for your face. So what exactly is a facial elixir?

“It pumps out like a serum, but when you touch it, it breaks like an oil. Cause my other issues with facial oils is that they’re so runny. When you touch the bottle it falls over, and with serums sometimes you can feel when the silicone gets too thick. So we just really worked on making this special consistency,” she explains.

Africa recommends using the facial elixir daily and religiously applies it before bed for optimal absorption. She also dabs a bit to her brows to tame unruly hairs and suggests adding it to your foundation for a little glow. And when you’re not in the mood to cake on your face, like on vacay, smooth some on and go. The uses are endless!

It uses Brazilian’s finest ingredients like maracuja oil, blossom butter, coconut oil and vitamin E, and we are totally here for it. Let’s get into this maracuja oil, because it’s popping up everywhere right now, and basically the new coconut oil. This new cult fave has properties that deliver ultimate hydration for brighter, smoother-looking skin.

In a world of over-priced beauty, like sell-your-first-born expensive, this facial elixir is fairly priced at $40. The clean, pretty packaging alone will get you, and if that doesn't, the smell will. The elixir’s subtle scent will transport you straight to Brazil, but doesn’t at all skew perfume-y. Before she left us, Africa told us about what’s on the horizon for BBAM. Her next product takes us to the South of France. Ooo La La La! Not only that, but she plans to expand her beauty biz into a whole lifestyle empire that will fulfill your wildest wanderlust.

“I want this to grow into a true lifestyle. Like the sheets, the towels, these things, because I tell people all the time if Tracee Ellis Ross had sheets and towels I would buy them. I mean if Kerry Washington had some pillows, they would’ve been in my first apartment.”

Same.
