Alicia Keys Dedicates New Song "I Owe You" To Mother
Alicia Keys looks impeccable on the cover of the June 2011 issue of Essence magazine. The 30-year-old opens up in her latest feature story, the first since giving birth to her son Egypt Dean with husband, producer Swizz Beatz. In the interview, Keys looks back on her Grammy-winning career and opens up about motherhood and being a wife. Also, in time for mother's day, Keys reveals that she dedicated a song from her new album to her mother Teresa Augello. "In the past, I've written mostly from my own perspective. But I just wrote a song for my next album that was inspired by a conversation I had with a man who was expressing how indebted he feels to God. He said, 'I owe God.' Now, what an interesting thought. And as much as I believe in God, for me that translated into how much I owe my mother for who I am. So I went home and I wrote I Owe You. It's dedicated to her." While Keys continues to work on her new album, on June 28, J Records will release a special tenth-anniversary edition of Keys' classic debut Songs In A Minor. On June 26, Keys will perform at the 2011 BET Awards in Los Angeles.
