Marion Jones Urges Kids in Croatia to Think Before They Act
As you watch once-disgraced sports stars make a comeback you may wonder when former U.S. track star Marion Jones will get her turn.
It looks like it could be coming.
Speaking on behalf of the U.S. State Department, Jones told children in Croatia to think about the decisions they make because she wished she had done so.
Jones was once considered the fastest woman in the world, but she fell from grace after lying to federal investigators about taking performance-enhancing drugs. She ended up serving prison time and giving back her five medals from the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games.
Earlier this week she told the Associated Press that she was honored to represent the U.S. She said it was the first time she has delivered her "Take a Break" message overseas, the crux of which encourages people to take their time before making key decisions, but to realize that even the hardest times can be overcome.
