Kerry Washington Says She’s Ready for Scandal Movie Reboot

The hit series from screenwriter and producer Shonda Rhimes ran from 2012 to 2018.

Kerry Washington admitted that she’d happily reprise the role of Washington D.C.’s take-no-mess crisis manager, Olivia Pope.

Speaking with Extra at The Hollywood Reporter’s Women in Entertainment event Wednesday evening (Dec. 6), the “Scandal” star told reporters that she’d “be there” for a reboot of the hit political thriller series if it were adapted into a film.

However, Washington said that the decision rested with show creator Shonda Rhimes. “That is a question for Shonda Rhimes. I will be there if it happens,” she said.

Scandal which aired from 2012 to 2018 on ABC, received numerous accolades during its run.

During an interview with IMdb last May, Rhimes was asked which of her characters she’d bring back, to which the screenwriter said, “Oh, Olivia Pope.”

“I like that character so much, even when she was bad,” Rhimes said. “She’s very interesting.”
