Diddy: We Are Committing Genocide on Ourselves
While Diddy is primarily known for closing huge business deals and dominating the celebrity entrepreneurial market, he sometimes puts on his activism hat to spread the knowledge on more politically-centered subjects. His latest attempt, however, has many scratching their heads, as he accused African-Americans of being the problem in the recent cases of social injustices, claiming that "we are always looking for scapegoats."
Taking to his Instagram account, Diddy shared a very spirited and direct response to the #BlackLivesMatter movement. "For the last couple of months we have experienced a lot of injustice and wrongdoings to a community. But there is a flip side," he wrote. "Yes, #BLACKLIVESMATTER ! But no one will respect us if we as a people don't have any respect for our own black lives. We are committing genocide on ourselves. We are always looking for scapegoats."
The Black slander didn't end there. The multi-million dollar mogul went on to include himself in the problem, even throwing in there that we are royalty — possibly to lessen the blow? "We as a people hurt ourselves more than anyone has ever hurt us. That makes no sense," he wrote. "We as a people including myself have to take accountability and do whatever we can do individually or together to stop the madness and realize that we are KINGS and QUEENS AND Must love ourselves and each other... #BLACKLIVESMATTER SO AS A PEOPLE LETS PRACTICE WHAT WE PREACH.!!!"
Following his questionable commentary, social media erupted in anger and confusion, with some asking if this matter is even within Diddy's wheelhouse.
It should be noted that Diddy posted these words following news of the murder of Coke Boys rapper Chinx, who was shot and killed in a car in the wee hours of the morning. He is among the many who continue to mourn the loss of the rising star online.
Chinx's funeral will be held next Tuesday (May 26) at The Greater Allen A.M.E. Church in Queens.
