Van Jones Welcomes New Baby As Conscious Co-Parent With Friend
Van Jones is a new dad, but he’s not sharing the child with a romantic partner.
According to TMZ, the CNN commentator and activist said that the coronavirus pandemic played a major role in his decision to have another child.
"After the COVID lockdown, I got clear that I wanted another kid,” he told the outlet. “I discovered that my friend Noemi also wanted a baby. So, we decided to join forces and become conscious co-parents. It’s a concept that I hope more people will explore and consider."
He added: "This month we welcomed to Earth a baby girl, whom we will raise as co-parenting partners. This is a special time for our families. I feel grateful, joyful and blessed."
According to PEOPLE, the baby girl arrived last month. The mother of the child is Noemi Zamacona, who is a friend of Jones and met him through a shared interest in criminal justice advocacy for several years.
TMZ reports that their decision to have a child together stemmed from a conversation they had over a friendly meal with a source close to Jones calling it "a very modern arrangement."
This is Jones’ third child (he has two from his previous marriage) while this is reportedly Zamacona’s first.
It isn’t clear what they have named their daughter.
