Young Thug Hearing: Naked Man Bombs Rapper’s Zoom Appearance
On Thursday (December 15), a hearing began closer to 2 p.m., instead of the scheduled 9 a.m. start time, for Young Thug’s RICO case due to technical difficulties that included a naked man appearing on screens in the courtroom.
According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the Zoom bomber interrupted the hearing while the Atlanta rapper’s lawyer Brian Steel was arguing for evidence to be suppressed in the case involving the indictment of 25 other defendants allegedly affiliated with Young Stoner Life.
Before deputies could turn off all of the screens, the naked man flashed the message “Free Young Thug.” The Zoom bombing took place after the hearing was already delayed for hours due to unrelated technical difficulties.
During the hearing, Steel filed a motion for the case to be dismissed altogether, but the judge denied that motion just after 6 p.m. The judge also weighed whether to admit certain evidence into the upcoming trial for Thug, born Jeffery Williams, in January.
The prosecution argued that the court did not find that the entry to his home was unlawful in which they seized evidence in a warrant pertaining to the rapper, which included a cell phone that supposedly contained relevant evidence.
The defense fired back, claiming that the entry into Thug’s home was unlawful, meaning that everything that was seized inside the home should not have been taken and promptly returned to him after being suppressed.
The judge ruled that the cell phone will not be admissible for evidence in the upcoming trial.
The hearing comes just a day after fellow YSL rapper Gunna entered a plea deal and walked out of the Fulton County Jail free. He will not be required to testify against any of the others charged in the RICO indictment.
Jury selection in the trial is scheduled to begin on January 5.
