President Obama (we’re going to keep using this forever) mentioned during the 2016 campaign season that a vote for Donald Trump was a referendum on his agenda over the past eight years. “I will consider it a personal insult, an insult to my legacy, if this community lets down its guard and fails to activate itself in this election,” he said. “You want to give me a good send-off? Go vote!”

It’s a sentiment T.I.’s taking to heart. In an Instagram post from early this morning (Nov. 9), the Atlanta rapper apologized for the election’s outcome (even though it wasn’t directly his fault), and left a heartfelt message about the Obamas and how they changed lives.

“We sorry guys... I swear on my life,If I could've done more I would've. We all deserve better,” Tip captioned under a flick of Barack and Michelle Obama embracing each other. “We just gotta live through this&prepare ourselves for what's next. We appreciate what you guys tried to do for US ALL as a nation. Unfortunately we weren't ALL ready for the change you wanted to bring about. Still, we love you & appreciate you for the HOPE your gave our community. We'll miss y'all!!!! But Unfortunately, it seems like we've been brought back to a worse place than we were in before. In your honor we'll remain honorable,respectable & continue to strive for greatness. I'll never let our dream die!!! WE CAN STILL DO IT!!!!”

T.I.’s been really putting his neck out there for the sake of his people as of late. He recently criticized Lil Wayne for his comments and lack of knowledge about the Black Lives Matter movement. Prior to that he delivered a riveting performance of his song “We Will Not” at the 2016 BET Hip-Hop Awards.
