Lil Wayne is a god to many so anything he says holds a lot of weight for a lot of people.

So when he was recently asked by Skip Bayless of the FS1 sports show Undisputed about whether he faces racism currently or has in his past as a public figure, Weezy’s response had a lot of people conflicted (and straight up angry).

“I don’t want to be bashed, because I don’t want to seem like I’m on the wrong side,” Wayne responded, speaking carefully. “But I thought that was clearly a message that there was no such thing as racism.”

To be clear, Wayne says he hasn’t experienced racism himself and since crowds at his shows are usually predominantly white, it made him think racism was over. Pitchfork is further reporting that he believes millennials are distancing themselves from racism because it is “not cool to them” (which isn’t a bad take).

Apparently, Lil Wayne knew his comments were going to get a reaction and expressed a concerned sentiment about it. Too bad that didn’t do any good. Twitter had a field day.

Originally, the headlines surrounding Weezy’s appearance on the show were supposed to be about whether or not he was retiring from the rap game. During an exchange about that, Wayne confirmed that he is still rapping, deading those rumors.
