For Listeners Only:

Fresh off of her star-studded birthday celebrations, Mary J. Blige, the undisputed Queen of Hip-Hop Soul follows up “Amazing” with a chest-thumping cut called “Rent Money.” Featuring fellow New Yorker, Dave East, the two effortlessly breeze on this D’Mile co-written and produced number that also samples The Notorious B.I.G.’s “F**k You Tonight”. As Ms. Mary goes off on a former lover she’s ready to part ways, this is a magnificent effort from her forthcoming Good Morning Gorgeous that will make fans extremely excited.

Khruangbin and Leon Bridges reconnect in this massively dope new single, “Chocolate Hills.” A sultry, emotive love song, the Texas-based trio take inspiration from their home state and offer listeners this track, which is featured on Texas Moon, a collaborative EP which arrives on Feb. 18 through Dead Oceans. Bridges’ smooth, honeyed croon sounds like home on Khruangbin’s genre-crossing, simmering sounds. Invite yourself and some friends to enjoy this “technicolor love song,” and then chase it with Late Night Tales: Khruangbin for the extra bit of audio seduction.

One of my favorite artists, KAINA, is a name that music lovers should commit to memory. The Venezuelan/Guatemalan-American singer-songwriter has come back after a short hiatus with a new single, “Apple,” which is accompanied by this truly awesome video by Weird Life Films.

This song brings us to a simpler time in KAINA’s life and serves as a reminder to honor the child in each of us. With this heartfelt number out now, we have our first look at what will drive KAINA’s new album, It Was A Home, which is slated for March 4 release via City Slang. If you’re also on a journey of self discovery, listening to KAINA’s signature sound is totally worth it.

Watch The Streams:

Spoiler alert! Netflix’s premier crime drama returns for its fourth and final season — starting today. Jason Bateman and Laura Linney’s sharp and smarmy duo of Marty and Wendy Byrde are deeper in debt as the cartel want to utilize the problematic power couple for more illicit means. As a rising crime lord, Ruth, pushes for a war against all who threaten their success, Ozark continues to be anchored by its litany of incredible performances. Strap in and hold on tight as this season marks the beginning of the end in more ways than one.

There are only a few more episodes left for Starz’s Power Book II: Ghost and things are getting spicy. Spoilers ahead: For episode 8, Davis Maclean (Clifford “Method Man” Smith) and Tariq (Michael Rainey Jr.) converse on the best way to protect himself against Jenny Sullivan (Paton Ashbrook) and Cooper Saxe’s (Shane Johnson) questions involving the death of Tariq’s college professor. While the two legal eagles’ newfound partnership-of-sorts seems to be asunder, Zeke (Daniel Bellomy) and Monet (Mary J. Blige) begin to clash over some long-gestating family secrets. It is an episode littered with twisted moral code and actions that will surely explode closer to the season finale.

Tracy Morgan’s The Last O.G. is a labor of love. Filmed in his native neighborhood of Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, Morgan’s character Tray has turned his life around and with Season 4 now available for streaming on HBO Max, many viewers who missed seeing how heartfelt this show is now have a chance to do so.

Without giving too much away, Tray begins episode one similar to the horrific real-life events that happened to the legendary comic, making this inaugural episode a jarring and surreal one to behold. But, like Tracy himself, you can keep a good man down and his return promises a host of funny jokes and moments that will have comedy lovers binge-watching The Last O.G. over the weekend.

Earlier this month, BET.com reported on Fireboy DML, the wildly popular Nigerian singer-songwriter who has been co-leading the charge of Afrobeat’s takeover of the U.S. He followed Wizkid and Tems in bridging the diaspora to the rest of the world with his remix to “Peru,” which featured Ed Sheeran, and now, eager audiences are excited for the smoke Fireboy promises to bring with his first-ever U.S. tour.

Kicking off on Feb. 3 at Providence’s The Strand, The Apollo Tour is a 13-city tour that will have stops in New York, Chicago, Atlanta, and more before wrapping up in Seattle at Showbox on Feb. 28. With the success of “Peru” still maintaining on the charts, Fireboy’s live appearance is a guaranteed great time for anyone who loves this beautiful sound coming out of the diaspora.
