Tracy Morgan Talks "Retards" and "Cripples" at Comedy Show
Tracy Morgan sure knows his audience. The comedian has been under fire as of late for homophobic comments made during a show in Nashville. During a new set at Caroline's, a comedy club located in Times Square, Morgan got the obvious out of the way. He told the crowd, “You’re all sitting here waiting for me say something about the controversy, right? I’m 42, man, and now all of a sudden I’m homophobic?”
The 30 Rock star then proceeded to go into his act, which might possibly eventually spur yet another public apology. In a New York Times review of the show, Morgan was quoted saying, “Don’t ever mess with women who have retarded kids.” The crowd tried to give him a hint for his choice of words but Tracy kept going, adding, “Them young retarded males is strong. They’re strong like chimps.” He also joked about a previous teenage romance with a girl he described as “cripple.”
Both “retarded” and “cripple” are largely perceived to be offensive terms. So will there be another apology? As of now no, but for Morgan’s notoriously politically incorrect act, surely one can never say never.
