Eminem's childhood home, featured on the cover of his The Marshall Mathers LP 2 release, was damaged in a fire Thursday (Nov. 7) evening, TMZ reports.  

According to officials, the fire broke out at around 6:20 p.m. on the second floor of the 767 square-foot bungalow located at 19946 Dresden Street, just south of Detroit's 8-Mile. Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze before it spread to other parts of the location, but the home's second floor sustained damaged. 

It is unclear how the fire stared.

The incident comes two months after the 1945 residence, worth an estimated $33,000, was put up for auction by its current owner, Michigan Land Bank Track Authority, a government run organization aimed at neighborhood restoration. 

Debra Mathers, Em's mom, purchased the home in 1987 for $19,000.
